The last thing I want to do when on vacation is work. I know I am not alone in this desire (need?). Many feel that the world is too connected, and that with all of the digital ties to the office, one can never fully get away and unwind. Having just returned from a wonderful 2 week vacation, I am in the prime mode to discuss this issue. Unlike the leading misconception, being connected does not mean always working. Much of the lifestyle promoted by iREALTY is to be able to live the quality life you want outside of the office, enjoying recreational activities and family time. This is not enjoyable when being interrupted every few minutes with phone calls, emails, voice messages and texts. The iREALTY lifestyle allows one to work effectively out of the office, but also to play out side the office as well.
The connected aspect of the modern REALTOR does not force you to work all of the time. It allows you to know that essential, or time sensitive things are taken care of, so that you can fully enjoy your time off. Taking time off and leaving your clients and transactions in someone else's hands is stressful. This is a simple truth. The unknown creates stress. Not letting go creates stress. Somewhere in here, we need to release this stress!
While on my recent 2 week mountain bike vacation, I spent my time biking, socializing, relaxing and doing all of the things I wanted to do, knowing that everything back home was being taken care of. While not being actively involved in transactions or day to day activities at the office, I did know that all was going well. I did not have to get involved in conversations with anyone at the office or those covering me, as I had the ability to briefly, once a day, review online items I wanted to stay on top of. I reviewed the necessary documents on our online storage system, signed paperwork that needed signing on my tablet computer, and retrieved my voice mails in text message format, quietly, when necessary. The few minutes it took me each day to keep my ducks in a row created the peace of mind I needed. The brief online review I scanned once a day, created peace of mind and allowed me to turn OFF my connections for most of my vacation.
Having just returned, I walked into the office KNOWING that all was still in order. Today was long, (no getting around the build up of work while away!) but in order.
Remember why you are working so hard. It is likely, so that you can enjoy a quality lifestyle. Be sure you make time to enjoy that lifestyle!
I agree with you that on vacation no one want to get disturbed every other minute and want to make it enjoyable interrupted every few minutes with phone calls, emails, voice messages and texts spoils the vacation . As you said that iREALTY lifestyle help to work effectively out of the office with enjoyment that is really cool.
